The Green Bay Packers erased the memory of their Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers by disposing of the division rival Chicago Bears 23-10 on Thursday night.
Acme Packing Company was quick to give the Packers their due in recovering so quickly from such a disappointing start to the season. The Packers got back to the basics of trying to establish the run and causing havoc on defense. As APC points out, Cedric Benson carried the ball 20 times for 81 yards to provide some semblance of offensive balance, something that was lacking against the Niners.
The defense also came to play and made Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler spend much of the evening on his back. Clay Matthews' 3.5 sacks were the highlight on that end as defensive coordinator Dom Capers decided that blitzing was going to be a constant throughout the game from the very first play.
