Jaguars running back Rashad Jennings has been ruled out for Jacksonville's Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans. Jennings, a backup for Maurice Jones-Drew, was expected to take on an increased role in the Jaguars backfield as MJD worked his way back from his lengthy preseason holdout.
But Jennings suffered a knee injury in the first half of the Jags' opener against the Vikings. He carried the ball eight times for 31 yards before being knocked out. The knee injury was not believed to be serious, but nevertheless, Jennings will be out for the home opener against Houston.
Jones-Drew finished Week 1 with 19 carries for 77 yards and it's likely he'll see an increased workload with another full week of practice and Jennings now on the shelf.
