New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees was injured in the third quarter of Saints Week 2 matchup against the Panthers. Brees was sacked by Panthers defensive lineman Greg Hardy, who grabbed ahold of the All-Pro quarterback and violently threw him to the ground. Hardy rolled up on Brees' right leg as he awkwardly slammed him down but the Saints' quarterback immediately grabbed his left leg. An animated gif of the play:
Brees was limping badly after the hit, and gingerly walked to the sideline as the Saints offense was forced to punt. He was walking it off on the sideline and limp seemed to lessen, but backup quarterback Chase Daniel started warming up. Brees seemed good enough to go, however, as he took the field for the Saints next offensive possession.
