St. Louis left tackle Rodger Saffold injured his knee in the first quarter of the Rams' Week 2 game against the Redskins. The big tackle limped off the field with the help of the St. Louis training staff and was having his leg examined on the training table on the Rams sideline. St. Louis announced his return as questionable.
Saffold was carted off the field last week against the Lions with what appeared to be a serious neck injury. It was diagnosed later in the week as a sprained neck, and he returned to practice on Wednesday. He was activated Sunday afternoon and got the start on the left side of the line, but his day could be over on the Rams' second possession.
Wayne Hunter, who the Rams acquired in a preseason trade with the Jets, replaced Saffold at left tackle. Hunter struggled with the Jets during August, and was sent to the Rams in exchange for former No. 2 pick Jason Smith.
