Brian Orakpo Injury: Redskins LB To Miss Time

Washington Redskins outside linebacker Brian Orakpo could miss a "significant stretch of time" after re-injuring a shoulder/pectoral muscle, the Washington Post's Mike Jones is reporting. Orakpo left the Redskins' 31-28 loss to the St. Louis Rams midway through the first quarter. The linebacker tried to return twice but left the game for good after just two second-half plays.

After the game, Orakpo admitted to reporters that the injury is the same one he suffered in Week 17 of last season, when he hurt a pectoral muscle after sacking Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. Orakpo, who led the Redskins with nine sacks last season, left that game and then had to have offseason surgery. Fortunately, Orakpo had all of the offseason to recover but that will not be the case this time.

In his post-game press conference head coach Mike Shanahan said Orakpo will see Dr. James Andrews, who performed the initial surgery during the offseason.
