Aaron Hernandez Injury: Patriots TE Will Miss 4-6 Weeks

Stay connected with SB Nation

Aaron Hernandez left the game and did not return when Julian Edelman rolled on his ankle in the first quarter of the Patriots' 20-18 loss to Arizona Sunday. The NFL Network is now reporting the the Patriots will be without Hernandez for the next 4-6 weeks. Hernandez has reportedly been diagnosed with a low ankle sprain that will cause the extended absence.

The network is also reporting that the Patriots will be meeting with tight end Kellen Winslow on Tuesday as they look to replace Hernandez in the lineup. Winslow had 75 receptions last season for Tampa Bay before being dealt to the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason. Winlsow was cut by the Seahawks after he reportedly refused to take a pay cut. He met with the Patriots at that time, but the two sides did not end up agreeing to a deal.
