Raise your hand if you had Andre Brown penciled in as the New York Giants' starting running back at this point in the season? Raise your hand if you knew who Andre Brown was prior to last week? The unlikely hero is on fire for the Giants on Thursday night, scoring his second NFL touchdown to put his team up by 17-0 against the Carolina Panthers.
At the goal line, New York lined up in the jumbo formation, with an extra blocker on the strong side of the line. Manning handed off to Brown for the second straight play, and the big man did the rest.
So far, Brown has 88 yards on 11 carries, not quite halfway into the second quarter, for an average of eight yards per carry. Brown has been cut by five different NFL teams before finding a home with the Giants.
