The Oakland Raiders are looking for their first win after a disappointing start to the 2012 season as the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town for a Week 3 matchup on Sunday.
Reggie Bush and the rest of the Miami Dolphins ran up, down and all around the Raiders in a 35-13 drubbing in Week 2. Bush had 176 yards and two touchdowns as the Dolphins racked up a total of 263 rushing yards. The Raiders offense still generated a lot of yardage; they just weren't able to show for it on the scoreboard. Quarterback Carson Palmer aired it out often, throwing 24-for-48 for 373 yards, but only one touchdown pass. But that was it for the Raiders as the running game was stifled, accounting for just 23 yards on 14 carries.
The Steelers rebounded from a disappointing opening loss against the Denver Broncos to take down the New York Jets at home in Week 2. Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 275 yards and a couple of touchdowns, one to wide receiver Mike Wallace and one to tight end Heath Miller. The well-known Steelers defense held the Jets to only 219 yards on offense and stopped them on third downs eight out of 12 times.
The Raiders are one of the more prolific passing teams in the league, throwing for 324.5 yards a game so far. The Steelers' defense on the other hand only allows 184.5 yards a game, good for fifth in the league. The famed Steelers run defense may not be as strong as it was in previous years, but Raiders running back Darren McFadden hasn't been this year either. The Raiders rank second to last in the NFL with only 34 rushing yards per game.
Game time/date: 4:25 p.m. ET, Sunday, Sept. 23
Location: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA
TV: CBS
Odds: The line opened favoring the Steelers by 3-points, but that has grown to 4-points now.
