In a battle between two teams desperate for their first win, the Kansas City Chiefs prevailed over the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome on Sunday. The Chiefs rode a great second-half performance to victory, coming from behind while down 24-6 to steal a 27-24 win in overtime, their first of the season. It was in stark contrast to the first two weeks of football, when they lost by 34 combined points en route to an 0-2 start to 2012.
Chiefs blog Arrowhead Pride called it a season-changing win, bringing hope to the fans after a terrible first two weeks:
From a fan perspective, this is so much bigger than one game. This changes the outlook of the season. Another loss and we would be standing on the ledge, if you weren't already there before. This victory completely changes the way I look at the season. The Chiefs can beat good teams. The Chiefs are not out of it. There is hope.
And that's what this is really about -- hope. This win gives everyone, including the players on the team, hope that they can turn it around. Starting 0-2 and making the playoffs is something that has been done twice since 2008. Starting 0-3 and making the playoffs hasn't been done in 14 years. That's a big difference.
Kansas City will have a chance to up its win total to two when it faces the San Diego Chargers next Sunday in its first divisional game of the season. New Orleans will seek its first win next weekend against the Green Bay Packers.

The Kansas City Chiefs scored 21 unanswered points in the second half and overtime of Sunday's 27-24 win against the home favorite New Orleans Saints. As a result, the Saints are still winless three weeks into the 2012 season and the Chiefs picked up their first victory of the season.
New Orleans was in control all the way up until the end of the third quarter when the Chiefs started to make their rally. Jamaal Charles, who posted an insane 233 yards on the ground Sunday, ran for a 91-yard touchdown to chip into the Saints' lead.
The Saints' offense became stagnant, and Ryan Succop converted on a couple of field goal attempts to help the Chiefs get back in it. Then there was the Drew Brees safety that brought Kansas City within just three points of tying the game.
Succop hit the game-tying field goal (43 yards) in the fourth quarter, and the winner (31 yards) in overtime.
Fantasy studs/duds: If you don't have Charles on your fantasy team, you're out of luck because he went off for 233 yards on Sunday. Succop would've worked for kickers, too.
Odds/Gambling: This was actually an upset. The Saints were nine-point favorites to beat the Chiefs and were well on their way to exceeding that spread until the 21 unanswered points by Kansas City.
Injury info: Chiefs wide receiver Dexter McCluster left the game with an elbow injury and his status is unknown.

Offense hasn't come easy for the Kansas City Chiefs this year, but thankfully RB Jamaal Charles is keeping the Chiefs in the game against the New Orleans Saints with this mammoth 91-yard TD run.
Charles hits the hole, and he's gone. What's even more impressive is that he got ankle tapped by a defender on the way through, and it only barely showed him down. The Chiefs need a lot more out of Charles if they hope to get back in this game.

The Saints are 0-2 and teams that start 0-2 almost never make the playoffs. Will they take out that frustration on Kansas City?
