Eagles Vs. Cardinals, Week 3: Turnovers Catch Up To Philly

The Philadelphia Eagles fell to 2-1 on the season after the team was defeated 27-6 by the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon in a game the Cardinals dominated from start to finish. All six of the Eagles points on Sunday came off the leg of Alex Henery and the team's offense was only able to make two red zone trips.

The Eagles turnover tendency to turn the ball over finally caught up to them on Sunday, writes Jason B of SB Nation's Eagles blog, Bleeding Green Nation. The Eagles offense turned the ball over three times against the Cardinals, but this time the defense was unable to bail them out.

The Eagles played with fire over the first 2 weeks of the season and in week 3 they finally got burnt. Bad... Like, 3rd degree burns. The Eagles were crushed by the Cardinals 27-6 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

Just like the first two weeks, they turned the ball over too much. But unlike those first two weeks, the defense didn't force a bunch of turnovers of their own, they didn't make big stops and the offense never got itself in a position for a big 4th quarter drive.

Beanie Wells Injury: Cardinals' RB Could Have Turf Toe

As the Arizona Cardinals won their third-straight game to begin the season on Sunday afternoon, the team lost their starting running back. Beanie Wells, who has battled injuries throughout his career since coming to the NFL, left the game with an apparent foot injury. The extent of the injury is yet to be determined, but it is believed he might have suffered a turf toe.

Here is the latest from Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com.

If further evaluation does indicate a turf toe, Wells could miss substantial time. These kind of injuries have a tendency to linger over the course of a season, and that's the last thing the Cardinals want.

Once Wells left the field on Sunday, Ryan Williams began taking the majority of the carries.

Eagles Vs. Cardinals Game Recap: Kevin Kolb Leads Cardinals Past Eagles, 27-6

The Arizona Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-6, on Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium.

The Arizona Cardinals built a 24-0 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles by halftime and would not need any more points to get the victory. The Cardinals did add a field goal in the fourth quarter. The Eagles did not find the scoreboard until the third quarter when they kicked a pair of field goals. Malcom Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald caught touchdown passes from Kevin Kolb in the first half for the Cardinals. Arizona also got a defensive touchdown when Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was sacked and fumbled. The fumble was returned 93 yards for the score by Cardinals safety James Sanders.

Fantasy studs/duds: Arizona quarterback and former Eagles signal-caller Kevin Kolb was efficient in carving up the Eagles' defense. Kolb was 17-of-24 passing for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald was Kolb's primary target with 9 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was only 17-of-37 passing for 217 yards. He also had 28 rush yards. Although Vick avoided throwing any interceptions, he lost two fumbles.

Odds/Gambling: This game was an upset as the Eagles were favored by 3.5 points. The Eagles fell behind by 10 points after the first quarter and were never in the game after 14 more points in the second quarter by the Cardinals.

Injury info: Eagles linebacker Akeem Jordan left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return.

Next week, the Cardinals will host the Miami Dolphins while the Eagles will host the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

Sack-Fumble Becomes Huge Touchdown For Cardinals

Michael Vick never saw it coming. In the dying moments of the first half, all the Eagles needed to do inside the 10-yard line was try one last passing play, and if it failed take the easy three points on a chip shot. Instead, he dropped back, completely missed the blitzing defender and got absolutely crushed.

It got worse from there, far worse, as the sack-fumble became a 93-yard fumble return for a touchdown by James Sanders. At half the Eagles are down 24-0, and the Cardinals are rolling.

Kevin Kolb And Larry Fitzgerald Hook Up On Big Score

Starting to believe yet? In the battle of the birds out in Arizona, it's the Cardinals who are battering the Eagles, now up 17-0 on this Kevin Kolb TD pass to Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitztd_medium

Fitz lost his man, and layed out for a fantastic catch after rolling into the endzone untouched. Arizona are firing on all cylinders as their offense is dominating, and the defense forced a fumble from Michael Vick, which is giving their offense these chances. Kolb has been clicking, currently 11-for-16, 162 yards and two touchdowns. Can the Cardinals keep it up and prove their not pretenders? We'll see as the game progresses.

Michael Floyd's First Career Catch Is A Touchdown

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd's first two NFL games were quiet, but the first round pick made his first career catch on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. It's a good one, too, as Floyd snagged a bouncing ball and waltzed into the end zone for a touchdown, giving him his first career score, as well.

Floyd1st_medium

The pass was clearly intended for Floyd, but a pair of Eagles defenders were there to cover the pass. Fortunately for Floyd, they ended up running into one another, leaving him free to catch the ball in wide open space.

Floyd, selected 13th overall out of Notre Dame, played in the first two games but failed to make a catch. The Cardinals' passing offense is a work-in-progress as the team tries to sort out its quarterback situation, but Kevin Kolb appears to be settling in as the starter after beating out John Skelton.

After putting up huge numbers for the Fighting Irish, the Cardinals are hoping that Floyd can emerge as a quality receiver alongside All-Pro wideout Larry Fitzgerald.

NFL Inactive List, Eagles Vs. Cardinals: Adrian Wilson Out For Arizona, Jeremy Maclin For Philly

The Arizona Cardinals will have to go for a 3-0 record without Adrian Wilson. The Pro Bowl safety, who was listed as questionable all week, will miss the game with ankle and groin issues. He was initially placed on the injured list for his ankle early in the week, but he also injured his groin during the week and that made it nearly impossible for him to play Sunday.

Joining Wilson on the inactive list is quarterback John Skelton, whose ankle will keep him out again. That means Kevin Kolb will start for the Cardinals.

The Eagles have their share of injuries too, with Jeremy Maclin leading the way. Michael Vick will miss having him as an option today, but he may miss King Dunlap more. The left tackle is out. Demetrius Bell will replace him.

Eagles inactives: Trent Edwards, Riley Cooper, Jeremy Maclin, Dion Lewis, King Dunlap, Nate Menkin and Vinny Curry.

Cardinals inactives: Adrian Wilson, Todd Heap, John Skelton, LaRon Byrd, William Powell, Senio Kelemete, Pat McQuistan.
