Jaguars Vs. Colts Game Recap: Jacksonville Wins 22-17 On 80-Yard TD Pass

Blaine Gabbert hit Cecil Shorts for an 80-yard touchdown pass with 45 seconds left to give the Jacksonville Jaguars a 22-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Gabbert's game-winning pass to Shorts came on the recoil from what had appeared to be a winning drive from the Colts. The Colts went 48 yards in five plays and 1:33 of game-time, and Adam Vinatieri hit a 37-yard field goal to give Indianapolis a 17-16 lead with 56 seconds left. Both teams were out of timeouts at that point.

The Colts' kickoff went for a touchback, setting up Gabbert's game-winner to Shorts.

A two-point conversion attempt, a handoff to Maurice Jones-Drew, failed.

The Colts took a 14-3 lead into halftime on the arm of rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. Luck threw for two touchdowns in the first half, including a 40-yarder to T.Y. Hilton with 3:42 left in the first quarter. That one looked like this:

Luck also hit Mewelde Moore for a four-yard touchdown with 37 seconds to go before halftime.

But the Jaguars controlled the second half, shutting out the Colts and finally flipping on an offense that had moved against the Colts in the first half but never quite found the end zone.

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew had 70 yards rushing in the first half, a good total for a team that hadn't scored a touchdown. Then, less than three minutes into the third quarter, Jones-Drew did this:

Jones-Drew's touchdown run went for 59 yards to make the score 14-10.

Scobee added a 47-yard field goal with 2:55 left in the third to make the score 14-13, and added a 26-yarder with 11:02 left in regulation to give the Jaguars a 16-14 lead that looked like it would stick. That lead didn't stick, but the Jaguars got it back anyway.

FANTASY STUDS AND DUDS:

Jones-Drew is a pretty safe bet at this point. SB Nation ranked him second in the Week 3 running back fantasy predictions, and he more than delivered. His 59-yard touchdown above was the highlight of what was already a stellar day. He finished with 177 yards on 28 carries.

Luck finished 22-for-46 with 313 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

It's hardly considered a dud if you have to rely on Gabbert to get a receiver his touches, but Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon had one catch for seven yards.

THE ODDS:

The Colts were three-point favorites in this one, so that obviously didn't hold up. The over/under was 42, so those that took the under were rewarded with the 39-point outcome.

INJURY UPDATE:

Jaguars receiver Laurent Robinson left the game in the first quarter after a blow to the head. He did not return to the game.

NEXT UP:

The Jaguars travel back to Jacksonville for a Week 4 match-up against the Cincinnati Bengals, a 4:30 p.m. ET game on CBS. The Colts have their bye week in Week 4 and play again Oct. 7 at home against the Green Bay Packers.

Laurent Robinson Injury: Jaguars WR Questionable To Return

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Laurent Robinson is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts after suffering a blow to the head in the first quarter.

Robinson sustained his injury a few plays into the Jaguars' opening drive. Kevin Elliott, a rookie receiver from Florida A&M, is behind Robinson on the Jaguars' depth chart.

Robinson has eight receptions this season for 115 yards. The sixth-year receiver is in his first year in Jacksonville. He signed a five-year, $32.5 million contract with the Jaguars this offseason after two years with the Atlanta Falcons, two years with the St. Louis Rams and one season with the Dallas Cowboys.

Jaguars fullback Greg Jones also left the game with a blow to the head and his return is questionable. Jones suffered the blow to the head while he was a part of the return team for Jacksonville on the opening kickoff.
