Jacob Tamme Injury: Broncos' TE Hurts Ankle Vs. Texans

Stay connected with SB Nation

Late in the forth quarter, Broncos TE Jacob Tamme got his legs caught up with Houston Texans safety Glover Quin on a deep pass play, and sustained an ankle injury that caused him to leave the field. Initially he tried to stand and walk off under his own power, but he quickly began signaling for the training staff, and needed assistance to leave the field.

Attempting a late comeback against the Houston Texans, Tamme had three receptions for 31 yards, and was Peyton Manning's favorite short-yardage target. Now down by six points late in the game, the Broncos will lean on backup Joel Dreessen to fill the void left by Tamme.

In three games Jacob Tamme has caught 10 passes for 87 yards and a TD. While he may not be the kind of tight end who stretches the field, he has been the most reliable pass catching option Denver have at the position. Currently listed as 'questionable', we wait to see his status moving forward.
