Sunday's game between the Atlanta Falcons and the San Diego Chargers was billed as a battle of the unbeatens but the visitor's were the only ones who seemed like they planned on remaining flawless. The Chargers were absolutely embarrassed in front of their home crowd and the fine gentlemen over at Bolts From the Blue were clearly upset with their team's performance.
If you need an example of how so, look no further than the first paragraph of John Gennaro's game recap:
"At some point this week, I am going to write a post about finding the "silver lining" in the San Diego Chargers loss to the Atlanta Falcons. I have no idea what I'm going to write about, because the Chargers literally did nothing right. Not one thing."
Gennaro's main complaints were about San Diego's nearly non-existent pass rush, poor cornerback play and inability to protect Philip Rivers. Then again, Gennaro acknowledges that it's not like the Chargers were playing a bunch of chumps:
"...the Atlanta Falcons are a really good football team. They might be the best team in the NFL. Their weakness at stopping the run doesn't matter because their offense can't be stopped and their pass rush can prevent any comeback against them. If they play this way every week, I don't know a team that can beat them."
The Washington Redskins will get their chance at knocking off the Falcons next Sunday at home. The Chargers are getting their two-game road trip started on the same day when they head to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in an AFC West battle.
