Rams Vs. Bears, Week 3: Defense Carries Chicago To Victory

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Chicago Bears defeated the St. Louis Rams Sunday, 23-6, led by a tremendous defensive effort.

The Bears offense gathers most of the week-to-week discussion, but, as usually is the case with Chicago, the defense carried the load. They pressured Rams quarterback Sam Bradford all game long, sacking him six times and producing two interceptions.

Steven Schweickert of SB Nation's Chicago Bears blog, Windy City Gridiron, writes that the defensive effort has been a consistent bright spot for the Bears thus far this season.

...the defense has been the one unit to hold firm all season and lead the push to the Bears winning this game. Six sacks by the Bears, including two and a half by Israel Idonije, not exactly noted as a premiere pass rusher, and two interceptions again fueled by Tim Jennings' ball skills (tipped one to Major Wright, intercepted another himself) helped overshadow a second shaky outing by Jay Cutler and the Bears' offense.

The Chicago Bears' next contest comes against the Dallas Cowboys next week on Monday Night Football.
