The Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers were expected to take the next step in 2012. While the Falcons have gone from contender to a potential Super Bowl favorite, the Panthers have been held back by their defense and a struggling Cam Newton.
Sunday's Week 4 battle has the experts going with Atlanta. Over at ESPN.com, the early consensus is for the Falcons.
On CBSSports.com, the experts are split. However, those analysts are picking the game with the spread, and the Falcons are listed as 7.5-point favorites.
The consensus from the Yahoo! Users is that Atlanta will be victorious at home, as well.
A season ago, the Falcons were able to get the best of Newton and the Panthers in both meetings. In fact, Atlanta has not lost to Carolina since 2009 and has not lost to the Panthers at home since 2007.
Sunday's game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at the Georgia Dome.
