Hakeem Nicks said he has no doubt that he will play in the New York Giants season opener on Wednesday, despite the fact he missed his second straight practice Monday.
Nicks, who broke his toe in May and was forced to have surgery, has been working his way back during training camp. He made his preseason debut in the Giants final preseason game, catching one pass for six yards.
While the slow and cautious recovery timetable may cause concern for some, Nicks said Monday it's all with the idea to avoid setbacks.
"I know it's for the better; we don't want any setbacks," Nicks said, according to ESPN.com.
Nicks is coming off of back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He caught 76 passes for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
