NFL Inactives, Saints Vs. Packers: David Hawthorne, Jonathan Casillas both out for New Orleans

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

New Orleans Saints linebacker David Hawthorne and his back-up, Jonathan Casillas, are both inactive for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

The New Orleans Saints will be relatively thin at linebacker on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers as both David Hawthorne and Jonathan Casillas are inactive for the game. That leaves the team with just four players, Curtis Lofton, Scott Shanle, Will Herring and Barrett Ruud, at the position.

Hawthorne, one of the team's starting outside linebackers, injured his hamstring during last week's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Casillas came in to replace Hawthorne but soon injured himself, leaving the Saints with a depleted group at the position.

Without either player, it appears that the Saints are giving the start to Herring on Sunday. He's only started eight of his 68 career NFL games, during which he's recorded 78 tackles, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and one sack.

The Packers' inactive report is a little rosier, as wide receiver Greg Jennings is active and expected to start. Tight end D.J. Williams and running back James Stark, who was expected to make his season debut on Sunday, are among those inactive.
