The Star-Ledger-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Giants safety Kenny Phillips sprained his knee in the first quarter of his team's Sunday night matchup, and his return to the game is doubtful.

New York Giants strong safety Kenny Phillips sprained his knee in his team's Sunday night matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles and is currently considered doubtful to return.

Phillips was stepping up to make a play on Eagles' running back Lesean McCoy, but McCoy cut back upfield and Phillips knee twisted the wrong way as he tried to adjust to make a play:

The first round pick out of Miami was able to walk off the field under his own power. It's never good to see a player's knee buckle like Phillips' did, but the fact he's listed at doubtful means the injury isn't serious enough to completely rule out his return.. Will Hill, who plays nickelback for the Giants, came in to replace Phillips.

The Giants' secondary is already a little bit banged up: free safety Antrel Rolle was listed as questionable coming into the game, while Jayron Hosley and MIchael Coe are both hurting with hamstring injuries. Tonight's game is the first career start for second-year man Prince Amukamara.
