Bryant McKinnie Will Remain With Ravens After Contract Restructuring

Bryant McKinnie is still with the Baltimore Ravens despite some earlier confusion that made it seem as if the veteran left tackle had been released.

McKinnie had tweeted and spoken to various media outlets on Tuesday, saying that he had been released after the team asked him to take a salary cut. However, the 2009 Pro Bowler then restructured his contract to meet the Ravens' demands and remain with the team. Shortly thereafter, he again took to Twitter to confirm the situation had been resolved.

McKinnie had been set to be the team's starting left tackle for a salary of $3.2 million, but showed up to camp late and overweight. That irked the team, and they asked him to cut his salary in half. McKinnie told the Baltimore Sun that he can still make the initial $3.2 million figure with the team after incentives, but he has taken a cut from his base salary. This is still the final year of his contract.

Had the Ravens cut McKinnie, their plan was to shift Michael Oher over from right tackle, but that won't be necessary now, as McKinnie is still with the team and will apparently start Week 1.
