Set to face a stout test against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III will make his long-awaited NFL debut Sunday afternoon from the Superdome in Louisiana.
The No. 2 overall pick finished 20-for-31 passing for 193 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the preseason, and showcased the versatile skill-set that made him such a dominant player during his time with Baylor. Though he did cough up two fumbles, the prized dual-threat did not throw an interception in any of his three appearances and enters the regular season with all the confidence in the world.
Seeking to ruin Griffin's debut this Sunday will be a hungry, experienced Saints roster that certainly has a bone to pick with the rest of the league after a tumultuous offseason. Quarterback Drew Brees was already expected to flourish once again alongside weapons Jimmy Graham and Marques Colston in the passing game this year, but the veteran signal-caller's role became even more important after the suspension of head coach Sean Payton disrupted the locker room.
Time: 1 p.m. ET
Location: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans
Odds: Washington + 8.5
