Austin Collie Inactive For The Colts

There's some surprising news out of Chicago today: Wide receiver Austin Collie is inactive.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Collie will not play in the Indianapolis Colts' season opener against the Bears, giving the 2012 NFL Draft's first overall pick Andrew Luck one less proven playmaker to throw to.

Despite suffering a concussion during the preseason, his third in just two years, reports were that Collie would be active and ready to play Sunday, but that changed less than two hours before kickoff, based on a decision by team doctors.

On Monday, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano was steadfast in saying that Collie was ready to go to open the season, telling the media... "Full go. Yep. Fresh legs. Ran all over the place. Caught everything. Looked great."

Apparently, Collie's still bothered by the effects of the concussion, and it's certainly a situation that will leave Colts fans wary until further notice.

Wide receiver Donnie Avery will start in place of Collie.
