Patriots Vs. Titans Game Recap: Pats Start Off Season With An Easy 34-13 Win

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New England Patriots weren't perfect in their season opener and Bill Belichick will probably growl his way through the post-game press conference, but they were good enough to pick up a 34-13 win over the Tennessee Titans. After falling behind 3-0, the Pats ran off 21 unanswered points and never looked back.

Even when the Titans scored to cut the Patriots' lead to 11 in the third quarter, the visitors came back and got those seven points back. Late offense really put the game out of reach, as the Titans crowd filed out long before the game ended.

It was a comfortable win for the Pats, who will probably be most happy that they held the Titans to just 20 yards on the ground. Allowing 284 passing yards by Jake Locker and Matt Hasselbeck probably won't please the Pats, but a win is a win and they are 1-0.

Say Hello To Stevan Ridley

The second-year running back out of LSU impressed last season, but he only had 87 attempts on the season. On Sunday, he had 21 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown, while adding three catches too.

Chris Johnson Probably Won't Rush For 2,000 Yards

It's only Week 1, but it's tough to imagine anyone rushing for 2,000 yards after picking up just four yards on 11 carries in the opener. That is not a typo. Four yards.

New England Sports Fans Happy That They Have An Alternative To The Red Sox

The Titans Can Throw The Ball, Still Can't Run It

Nine different receivers caught passes for Tennessee as they spread the wealth in a solid passing attack. The problem is that their running game made last year's rushing attack, which was 31st in the NFL, look potent.

You Have Ridley On Your Fantasy Team, Right?

Most of the people who have Ridley probably had him on the bench. That was smart. He only racked up the fourth-most fantasy points of any running back today.

This was an odd fantasy game, though. Let the SBN Fantasy guys sort it out for you.

Pats Cover

The Patriots were favored by six points so if you put money on them, congrats! And if you took the under on 48, double congrats!

Jake Locker Hurt

The big injury of the day was Jake Locker hurting while trying to make a tackle after a turnover. Making matters worse, Nate Washington was hurt on the same play.

What's Next

The Patriots will take their 1-0 record home to play the Cardinals next week. The Titans will hit the road and head west to take on the Chargers.
