The doors were quickly blown off the widespread perception that the New York Jets would struggle on offense. As it stands they have hung 41 points on a Buffalo Bills' defense, thought to be one of the better units in the NFL. Today has been pretty deflating for Buffalo fans, but there has been one positive note– the stellar play of third year running back C.J. Spiller.
Now in the forth quarter, Spiller has 14 carries for 169 yards, and a touchdown. The big play of the day for the Bills was a 56-yard TD run by Spiller back in the second quarter, and he's been their only sign of life on offense as he equates for over half of the total yards for Buffalo.
With an injury to Fred Jackson currently reported (but not verified) as a sprained LCL ligament, there is a severe need for C.J. Spiller to be ready to take on the mantle of every-down back, and be prepared to be 'the guy' in Buffalo. Fans should feel slightly at ease that he's run so well, and with a little luck Jackson will be back soon to complete their 1-2 punch at RB.
