Pierre Garcon Injury: X-Rays Negative On Foot

Stay connected with SB Nation

Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon injured his foot in the team's 40-32 season-opening victory against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, but head coach Mike Shanahan said after the game that X-rays were negative.

The fifth-year player out of Mount Union experienced some soreness, so the Redskins were cautious with him.

Garcon is expected to be a key component to what the Redskins do this season, with rookie Robert Griffin III at quarterback needing weapons to throw it to. RGIII's first career touchdown came by way of an 88-yard score from Griffin to Garcon.
