The Seattle Seahawks had one timeout left when Doug Baldwin was injured on an incomplete pass in the end zone. They then ran the ball with Marshawn Lynch and took a timeout, despite all the scoreboards and graphics saying they had none left. You see, the injury to Doug Baldwin should've resulted in a forced timeout -- incomplete pass or not -- but instead, the replacement referees awarded Seattle an apparent fourth timeout.
This was the NFL's version of a Chris Webber moment, and everyone was confused. In fact, the refs had to huddle up, call up to the booth and talk about the problem for a good five minutes to try to sort it out. Even if the Seahawks didn't have a timeout left, they were given the equivalent of one with the delay.
And then the refs stammered over the decision, because that seems to be par for the course.
You know how you can tell when someone is trying to BS you? Yeah, that meter is beeping real loud listening to the explanation. Don't lie to me, sir. You can't fool me.
My favorite part is Mike Pereira basically screaming "THAT'S WRONG YOU GUYS ARE IDIOTS WRONG WRONG WRONG."
Gonna be a fun season, y'all.
