The Cardinals coaching search is not as focused on Andy Reid as was previously assumed, according to a Tuesday night report.

Andy Reid, who has been reportedly interested in a variety of open NFL coaching jobs after the Philadelphia Eagles fired their long-time coach, is not close to a deal with the Arizona Cardinals, according to one source close to the ex-Eagles coach.

ESPN's Adam Schefter quelled some of the rumors surrounding Reid and the Cardinals, who recently let go of their coach, Ken Whisenhunt, after the Cardinals ended the season with losses in 11 of their last 12 games.

Schefter also cited a source who said the Cardinals coaching search was not close to being over and that the position has no leading candidates in its early stages.

Some reports had said that Reid could be the coach of the Cardinals by as early as the end of the week, but the coach, who went 130-93 in his 14 seasons with the Eagles, is reportedly not as close as was previously thought.

Reid's Eagles went 4-12 in his final season at the helm in Philadelphia, just his third losing season with the Eagles in 14 seasons.
