Jets general manager rumors: Is Ted Sundquist the favorite?

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets continue to search for a new general manager and a couple of former NFL general managers could be the leading candidates.

The New York Jets continue to search for a new general manager and after missing out on a couple of candidates, two former general managers have emerged in the search.

New York interviewed former Denver Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist last week and the interview was reported to have gone extremely well. Sundquist has been a bit off the radar since leaving the Denver Broncos following the 2007 season, but is now said to be a sleeper candidate to replace Mike Tannenbaum in New York.

Sundquist, however, isn't the only former general manager to be in the running in New York. Former Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo is also in the mix. While Sundquist and Angelo have previous experience, the Jets are also interviewing up-and-coming candidates. Seattle Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik will interview with New York on Wednesday.

Regardless of who the Jets choose, head coach Rex Ryan is not involved in the interview process.
