The Jets' list for a new general manager has dropped to at least eight.
Marc Ross has withdrawn his name from the list of candidates to become the next general manager of the New York Jets, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.
Ross is the director of college scouting for the New York Giants. He interviewed for the job last week.
Ross was considered a "top candidate" for the Carolina Panthers general manager job in late December, but the Panthers hired Dave Gettleman, the Giants' former personnel executive, last week.
He was also a candidate for the general manager job for the San Diego Chargers, but the Bolts hired Tom Telesco instead.
Per Pro Football Talk, the remaining candidates for the Jets job are:
- Dolphins assistant general manager Brian Gaine
- 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble
- Steelers director of football and business administration Omar Khan
- Montreal Alouettes general manager Jim Popp
- Seahawks V.P. of football administration John Idzik
- Jets assistant general manager Scott Cohen
- Packers V.P. of football administration Russ Ball
- Former Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist
