The Eagles announced the hiring of Chip Kelly on Wednesday, but will formally introduce him at a press conference on Thursday.

After being announced as the new Philadelphia Eagles head coach on Wednesday, Chip Kelly will meet the media for the first time on Thursday at an introductory press conference. The press conference is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET and will be held at the Eagles' NovaCare Complex.

The press conference will come roughly 24 hours after Kelly and the Eagles shocked the NFL. After Kelly reportedly turned down the Eagles earlier this month, most had assumed Philadelphia had moved on in its coaching search. The two sides maintained contact but talks didn't begin to escalate again until recently, according to a report from Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

Although Thursday's press conference will be a time for the Eagles to introduce Kelly to their fans, it will also be the first time Kelly will field questions from the Philadelphia media. His winding path to accepting the job will likely be discussed, and there is a good bet his offense will generate a question or two.

After multiple close calls, Kelly is officially headed to the NFL.
