Seattle Seahawks front office executive John Idzik appears to be the"frontrunner" for the New York Jets' vacant general manager position, and he could be offered the position soon, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Idzik is currently the vice president of football administration with Seattle and has been with the organization since 2007.

Idzik helped tear down and build the Seahawks as they transitioned from one group of playoff-caliber personnel to another. He had plenty of say in roster construction, as he oversaw player contract negotiations, salary cap compliance, player personnel transactions, among many other duties, according to his profile on the Seahawks' official site.
The Jets fired GM Mike Tannenbaum following the season after the team failed to reach the playoffs for the second straight year and appeared to be on a downward arc. On the other hand, the Seahawks have built a young corps of players that won 11 games and reached the Divisional round.
