The Cleveland Browns have hired NFL Network's Michael Lombardi as vice president of player personnel.

The Cleveland Browns have hired Michael Lombardi as vice president of player personnel, the team announced Friday morning.

Lombardi has a long history with the NFL, serving executive roles with the 49ers, Browns, Rams, Eagles and Raiders over 23 years. He's been working as an NFL Network analyst since 2007.

Lombardi has been long rumored to be the Browns' new GM since Jimmy Haslam bought the team, but that does not appear to be the case here. It's unclear what his role with the team will be. Joe Banner was named the new president back in October.

With this hiring, Cleveland now has its front office set. They hired former Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski as head coach and former Chargers head coach Norv Turner as OC. Together, they will try to turn around a franchise that has lost 11 or more games for five straight years.
