The Atlanta Falcons are the first to score in Sunday's NFC Championship.
It didn't take long for the Atlanta Falcons to get out to an early lead, scoring on their first drive to get a seven-point head start on the San Francisco 49ers.
Early in the drive it looked like the Falcons' drive would be stopped quickly, after several unsuccessful running plays. However a pass to Roddy White set up a 47-yard bomb to Julio Jones, on a play where the 49ers secondary completely broke down -- unable to cover Jones's go route.
It was as easy a pass as Matt Ryan will have all day, and required only a well-placed deep pass to put the Falcons on top. Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco offense has just taken the field, looking to try to tie the score. What we learned from that first Atlanta drive is that the 49ers will need to get their pass rush going more quickly if they hope to stay in pace with the Falcons.
