As our journey begins, Alex Smith updates his diary. It's sad reading.
All of the other guys are still pretty excited about the Super Bowl but I'm not excited at all. I feel ... well, there's no other way to say it. I feel poopy! Sorry to use that kind of language, diary. I hope we can still be friends.
Things seemed so great at the beginning of the season. I had taken the team all the way to the ding-dong (sorry again) NFC Championship Game for the first time in -- gosh -- forever and that was really exciting! Then I agreed to come back this year and the season got off to a great start. It was going to be my best year ever!
Then ... well ... you know the rest. I got a concussion and then Colin took over for me and that was that. Things are weird with me and Coach Jim now. He keeps saying, "Yeah, Alex, I'm busy right now, but text me later and we'll go out to Chili's or something." Well, 17 texts later, guess who's been eating at Chili's by himself every Wednesday? That's right, diary: Alex "Too-trusting" Smith. *sigh*
Colin is a nice guy and it's not his fault that he's the quarterback now, but it seems like he has no idea that I've been so sad lately. After we won a free trip to the Super Bowl, he came up to me in the locker room all like "HEY ALEX DID YOU SEE WHAT I DID? I SCORED ALL THE TOUCHDOWNS AND NOW WE CAN SUPER BOWL! DIDJA SEE DIDJA SEE?"

It's like "uh yeah colin great job or whatever." Right? Like what else can I say? But he's excited, so I can't blame him too much I guess. It must be exciting to lead your team to the Super Bowl. I imagine it is. :(
(Also Colin must work out a bunch. He made me self-conscious and was like "HEY ALEX I DID SO AWESOME RIGHT" and I was all mumbling like "mhm yeah gg" while covering up my torso with whatever gingham shirt I had on hand. Awk-waaarrrrrdddd. Yes, diary; even professional athletes get body-conscious.)
I guess I should get going for now. I've got a busy couple of weeks ahead of me. Like, today, for example. Tuesday is laundry day, so I should get started on my next load of gingham shirts. And I should feed my cat, Cuddlesface McTouchdown. I'll check back in later and let you know how "Super Bowl Madness" is going.
Love you, diary. Do you love me back? It seems like no one else does. :(
