The average price for a Super Bowl ticket is up to $3,741 as prices continue to rise. The cheapest ticket in the Superdome on Feb. 3 is available for $1,877, a five percent increase from yesterday.
Despite the rise since opening, ticket prices are still down compared to last year. Super Bowl XLVI featured the Patriots and Giants, from two of the largest metro areas in the country. The U.S. Census Bureau via Wikipedia ranks New York as the largest metro area in the country and Boston as No. 10. The Super Bowl XLVII matchup this year features the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. San Francisco ranks 11th and Baltimore comes in at No. 20, a step down from the massive New York and New England followings.
There are approximately 4,200 tickets on the secondary market for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans. It is expected that ticket prices will drop as the game approaches and sellers look to avoid being stuck with extra tickets. So far, ticket prices have been on the rise this year.
