The AFC and NFC jerseys for the 2013 Pro Bowl. - @Nike
Nike mixes the retro look and modern capabilities to provide the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl with the duds the players will wear out on the field in Honolulu.
When the Pro Bowlers from the AFC and NFC hit the field for the 2013 Pro Bowl from Honolulu on Sunday, they will be outfitted in these retro-inspired uniforms that sponsoring manufacturer Nike produced exclusively for the game.
Released just a few days before Sunday's showdown, Nike described the uniforms as having been inspired from the 1970s-era simplicity that used to be the norm for NFL uniforms. The AFC's white uniforms is especially reminiscent of those simpler looks.
Nike, while sticking with the retro look for the uniform, stuck with the modern Elite 51 "chassis" for the uniform's functionality, which the Nike official website says "creates a system where the baselayer, padding, jersey and pant work in concert."
The combination of new and old also serves as a tribute to the traditional red, white and blue color scheme of the NFL and Pro Bowl, according to Nike.
The more conservative look is getting pretty good response from the web in the lead up to the game, but we'll have to wait until Sunday night to see how they look in action.
