Super Bowl 2013: Madden '13 simulation predicts Ravens win

Sean Gardner

The popular video game has been right seven of the last nine years.

In what would be a storybook finish, Madden '13 is predicting a Super Bowl win for the Baltimore Ravens.

EA Sports, who makes the popular annual football game, released a video Monday with the simulated last play of Super Bowl XLVII.

In the clip, the Ravens lead, 27-24, with 17 seconds left. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick drops back, and before he tosses it deep he's blasted by Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis. Kaepernick's pass is intended for Randy Moss, but it's picked off by safety Ed Reed in the end zone.

Ravens win, 27-24.

According to the New York Post, Madden Super Bowl simulations, which started for Super Bowl XXXVIII, have been correct seven of the last nine years. A Madden simulation correctly predicted the New York Giants would beat the New England Patriots last season in the Super Bowl.

The only simulations Madden didn't get right were Super Bowl XLII (it predicted the Patriots, but the Giants won) and Super Bowl XLV (predicted the Steelers, but the Packers won).
