Andy Dalton is picking a bad time to have one of the worst starts of his career. In Saturday's AFC Wild Card matchup against the Texans, Dalton has not been much help as the Bengals trail 19-10 early in the fourth quarter.
Dalton is 8-of-20 for 67 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception. His 28.5 quarterback rating would be the lowest of his career. Last season in the playoffs against the Texans, Dalton had no touchdowns and three interceptions.
While the Texans have played good defense, poor play by both offenses has been the real story to this messy playoff game. A.J. Green went without a first-half target for the first time in his career and now has three catches for 57 yards, but it was either an errant pass or a bad route from Green that led to the Dalton's third-quarter interception.
Meanwhile, the Texans have settled for four Shayne Graham field goals instead of touchdowns, leaving open the possibility of a Cincinnati comeback. If only Dalton starts playing like usual.
