The Redskins QB thanked his supporters and promised a speedy return before going under the knife on Wednesday morning.
Robert Griffin III is having knee surgery. Actually, he already had it early on Wednesday morning, according to reports. The Redskins' rookie sensation took to Twitter the morning of his procedure to thank his fans for the well wishes.
Thank you for your prayers and support. I love God, my family, my team, the fans, & I love this game. See you guys next season.— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) January 9, 2013
Dr. James Andrews repaired the torn ACL and LCL ligaments in RGIII's right knee. Initial reports put the recovery process in the range of 6-8 months, which coincides with the start of training camp in August.
To make it back in time, he'll need to follow the advice offered in another one of his tweets following the injury, which he suffered in Sunday's Wild Card loss to the Seattle Seahawks:
When adversity strikes you respond in one of two ways....You step aside and give in..Or you step up and fight.— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) January 7, 2013
