The Jets will interview San Diego director of pro personnel Jimmy Raye for their general manager vacancy.

Jimmy Raye was thought to be the front-runner to become the next general manager of the San Diego Chargers, but after San Diego hired Tom Telesco on Wednesday, Raye will now interview with the New York Jets.

Raye has spent the last 17 seasons in San Diego, including the last four as the director of player personnel. He began as a scout for the Chargers, eventually working his way up to the director of college scouting. Under his watch, the Chargers acquired a lot of talent through the draft including; LaDainian Tomlinson, Drew Brees, Shawne Merriman, Marcus McNeill, Igor Olshansky, Philip Rivers, Shaun Phillips, Quentin Jammer, Luis Castillo and Antonio Cromartie.

After San Diego chose Telesco as its next general manager, the Jets asked for and received permission to interview Raye. The Jets also requested and received permission to interview Miami assistant general manager Brian Gaine. Gaine is a New York native, having graduated from Don Bosco Preparatory High School.
