Garrard was signed at the beginning of this year but ended up retiring before training camp started due to a knee injury. Now, the former Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins signal-caller has come out of his rocking chair to rejoin Gang Green.
The Jets placed Garrard on the exempt list, meaning he will not be available for the next two weeks. Once that period expires, New York then makes the decision whether or not to activate him. Should Garrard be placed on the active roster at some point, it would be likely he becomes the primary backup behind rookie Geno Smith.
In his career, Garrard has thrown for 16,003 yards while tossing 89 touchdowns and 54 interceptions. Twice, in 2008 and 09, Garrard threw for over 3,500 yards in a season.
