Patriots vs. Jets: Rob Gronkowski catches first pass of 2013

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots tight end is back to mid-season form after missing the first six weeks due to injury.

Rob Gronkowski is back, and not just in a literal way. The New England Patriots' end is making an early impact in Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

Gronkowski caught his first pass on the season on a 12-yard route that showed he isn't timid about playing following off-season surgery. He he took a big hit to his surgically repaired left arm, and popped back up without signs of slowing. Patriots fans will be pleased to see their All-Pro tight end back in the fold, but also showing an ability to take a hit and bounce back.

This wasn't the only catch of the first quarter for Gronkowski, who followed up this play with a 30-yard gain, setting up a Brandon Bolden touchdown run. The tight end now has two catches on two targets for 42 yards, with over five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Tom Brady getting reliable weapons back is vital to the Patriots holding onto their 5-1 start, and the quarterback is already showing more confidence in his offense with the addition of one reliable weapon.
