Dolphins vs. Patriots 2013 odds and lines: New England favored at home

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots are favored over the Miami Dolphins for their Week 8 matchup.

The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots are set to meet in an important AFC East matchup on Sunday. It's not quite as interesting as it was through three weeks of the regular season, when both teams were 3-0 and the Dolphins had bested both the Indianapolis Colts and the Atlanta Falcons.

They've since lost their last three games, with a Week 7 loss to the Buffalo Bills sticking out. New England is coming off a loss as well, falling to the New York Jets in overtime, 30-27. Their only other loss was to the Cincinnati Bengals. Their most impressive win over the season, 30-27 over the New Orleans Saints, is wedged between the two losses.

New England opened up as 4.5-point favorites for the matchup, though the line has widened considerably in their favor. According to OddsShark, some of the top sites have the Patriots favored by as much as 7.5 points. The over/under for the matchup is set at 45.5 points.

The Patriots get a couple points for the home-field advantage, but they're the clear favorites here and would be favored on the road as well.
