Dolphins players upset with OC Mike Sherman's coaching, per report

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Dolphins coordinator Mike Sherman may be losing the locker room.

The Dolphins have had a litany of trouble this season. From Randy Starks' "finger guns" to Mike Pouncey's support of Aaron Hernandez, the team has been embarrassed by players left and right. Now the uneasiness in the locker room is coming from the coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman has come under fire for his play-calling, most notably in Miami's most recent loss to the Patriotsaccording to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.

Dolphins Pro Bowl guard Richie Incognito is upset that Sherman abandoned the run after being successful with rushing for a majority of the first half against the Patriots, per Salguero. The Dolphins quit running the ball, despite the success, and the Patriots came back to beat them in the second half of the Week 8 loss. On top of that, the offensive line has felt even more frustration with the meltdown and subsequent absence of right tackle Jonathan Martin.

This is not the first time that Sherman has been questioned. Vaunted free agent signee Mike Wallace was upset about the play-calling and the offense after Week 1 for not getting him the ball. He has since stayed quiet after being more involved in the offense in recent weeks. However, he did sit down with Sherman to discuss his role following the Week 8 loss.

The criticism of Sherman has not stopped at the players. Per Salguero, one high-ranking Dolphins official went as far to say that Sherman misses on fundamental football practices. That source was reportedly "dumbfounded" by Sherman's play-calling.

The Dolphins are set to take on the Bengals on Thursday Night Football in Week 9.
