The NFL's Week 9 injury report has several players returning to action, while the Pittsburgh Steelers will be without their best offensive lineman and the Bills are still unsure of just who will be playing quarterback this week against the Chiefs. Here are some of the key injuries and updates heading into another week of NFL action:
Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel remains out with an LCL injury, yet he returned to practice this past week leading up to Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately for the Bills, his replacement, Thad Lewis, has been listed as doubtful for the game with a rib injury. Head coach Doug Marrone stated that the team will put Lewis through a couple of throwing sessions and that his status for Sunday's contest will likely be a game-time decision.
The Dallas Cowboys will once again be without a number of key players this week when they take on the Minnesota Vikings. Cornerback Morris Claiborne (hamstring), guard Brian Waters (triceps), safety J.J. Wilcox (knee) and linebacker DeVonte Holloman (neck) are all ruled out for Sunday's game. Receiver Miles Austin and defensive lineman DeMarcus Ware are both doubtful, and running back DeMarco Murray looks ready to get back on the field after taking full part in practice on Friday.
The New York Jets will once again be without veteran receiver Santonio Holmes, who did not participate in practice on Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Tight end Jeff Cumberland, who has 15 receptions for 248 yards this season, is questionable after not practicing while dealing with a concussion.
For the Saints, safeties Malcolm Jenkins and Kenny Vaccaro are both questionable with a knee injury and a concussion, respectively. Veteran receiver Marques Colston is also questionable with a knee injury but is expected to play after being limited in practice this past week.
Tennessee Titans linebacker Moise Fokou has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams with a knee injury, and safety Michael Griffin is in danger of missing the first game of his career after suffering a quadriceps injury last week. Rams guard Harvey Dahl has also been ruled out for the game, while running backs Zac Stacy and Daryl Richardson are both listed as questionable with foot injuries.
Coming off a bye week, the San Diego Chargers could still be without a couple of key players on Sunday against the Washington Redskins. Receiver Eddie Royal did not take part in practice this past week with a toe injury and is questionable for the game in Washington, and linebacker Donald Butler is doubtful with a groin injury. Royal was able to play against the Jaguars in on Oct. 20, catching four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown, and proving to be capable of performing despite not practicing the week before.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick remains out with a hamstring injury yet took part in all three practices this past week. Nick Foles, meanwhile, is listed as probable after missing the Week 8 loss to the New York Giants and looks on appears ready to return to the field on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without guard David DeCastro Sunday on the road against the New England Patriots, who missed practice this week with an ankle injury. Left guard Ramon Foster took full part in practice, however, and is expected to play after dealing with a concussion this past week.
The Patriots, meanwhile, have listed receiver Danny Amendola as probable after he was a limited participant in practice this past week. Amendola has only played in four games this season due to various injuries and has 19 receptions for 174 yards so far for the Patriots.
