Sunday's game between the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers was regarded by many to be the best game Week 10 had to offer. One half is in the books and the game is living up to the lofty expectations as the 49ers lead, 9-7.
Neither Cam Newton nor Colin Kaepernick is dominating, as each team's defense is ensuring a low-scoring affair. The teams have combined for just 216 yards of offense at halftime, with dominant pass rushing resulting in a total of four sacks.
Frank Gore is the first-half MVP, in the midst of a successful day running against the No. 2 run defense in the NFL. He has rushed for 61 yards on 12 attempts, including a 17-yard run that helped set up the first of three field goals.
It appeared San Francisco would carry a nine-point lead into the half, but Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams kept the game close with a 27-yard touchdown run that narrowed the lead with under two minutes to play.
