Jacksonville only gained 214 total yards but took advantage of four Tennessee turnovers, including a Ryan Fitzpatrick fumble with 2:32 remaining, which Will Blackmon ran into the end zone to make the score 29-20 and secure the win.
The Jaguars knocked out Jake Locker in the first half, who exited with a foot injury. Fitzpatrick came in and completed 22 of 33 passes, but could not engineer a victory.
Over at Big Cat Country, Adam Stites writes about the defensive effort on Sunday:
Instead it was the defense that was responsible for nine points in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory. A holding penalty forced by Sen'Derrick Marks gave the team a safety, while a sack, forced fumble returned for a touchdown by cornerback Will Blackmon ended any remaining Tennessee hopes for a victory.
For Tennessee, the loss is crushing. The Titans are now a full game out of the sixth and final seed in the AFC and could be without Locker for the season. At 4-5, Tennessee faces the daunting task of facing the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night.
Jimmy Morris of Music City Miracles expressed complete devastation:
This team plays uninspired football entirely too often. That is on Mike Munchak. It is time for him to go.
I really don't have much to say in the form of a recap. The Titans lost all phases of the game to a team that is now 1-8. What else is there to say?
