Adrian Peterson injury: Vikings RB says he's ready to play Sunday

Peterson expects to play through a groin injury that limited him last week in Seattle.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who has been hobbled by a groin injury, said he is expecting to play Sunday against the Green Bay Packersaccording to USA Today's Tom Pelissero.

Peterson admitted earlier this week that a groin injury slowed him down in the Vikings' Week 11 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and had voiced some uncertainty about his status in Green Bay for Week 12.

"I'm going to try to get my rest that I need," said the five-time Pro Bowler. "I'm probably going to do it this week (in practice). Just push it to Sunday."

Peterson rushed for just 65 yards and a per-carry average of 3.1 in the 41-20 loss at Seattle and noticeably lacked the powerful burst that helped him rumble to within 9 yards of the NFL single-season rushing record a year ago.

Head coach Leslie Frazier told reporters Wednesday that he is "cautiously optimistic" Peterson will be able to play through the injury, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.

Peterson made a similar complaint about a hamstring bruise earlier this season, but played through the issue without missing any time.
