Jaguars DE Jeremy Mincey violates team rules, doesn't travel to Houston

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

The Jaguars will be without Jeremy Mincey on Sunday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are headed to Houston without a pass rusher. Defensive end Jeremy Mincey was left off the road trip after violating team policy, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. Mincey has been with the Jaguars since 2006.

The veteran has been used as depth this season. He has 14 tackles and two sacks in seven games this year after being a full-time starter for the Jaguars from 2011-2012. He is just a year removed from signing a four-year deal with the former regime headed by Gene Smith.

Mincey has not been much of a fit for the Jaguars' new 4-3 Under with Gus Bradley and is likely still on the team due to his contract. He has 20 sacks and has started 40 games in his career. Mincey has served as Tyson Alualu's backup this season and, with him out of the lineup, Ryan Davis will likely serve as the main depth player behind the former first-round pick.
