Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Kendall Wright over the middle for a 10-yard touchdown with just 10 seconds remaining and the Tennessee Titans came from behind to beat the Oakland Raiders, 23-19, and improve to 5-6.
Trailing by three, Tennessee drove 80 yards in 14 plays to take the lead, overcoming a late Matt McGloin touchdown pass that gave the Raiders the lead with six minutes remaining.
McGloin struggled through much of his second NFL start, but connected with Marcel Reece late in the fourth quarter for a 27-yard touchdown to put the Raiders back on top, 19-16. The rookie quarterback recognized a mismatch with a linebacker covering Reese on the outside and exploited it by lofting a perfect pass down the left sideline for the score.
McGloin went undrafted out of Penn State and entered the Raiders traininig camp this year fourth on the depth chart. He wrestled the starting job away from Terrelle Pryor last week and rewarded his coaches by throwing three touchdowns in Oakland's 28-23 win over Houston.
Neither team could find the end zone in the first half, with a combination of strong defense and mistake-prone offense resulting in a battle of field goals. Sebastian Janikowski connected on kicks of 52, 48 and 24 yards for the Raiders and Rob Bironas hit from 33 and 22 yards for the Titans to make it 9-6 heading into halftime.
Tennessee finally broke the scoring open in the third quarter when Fitzpatrick found Justin Hunter for a 54-yard go-ahead touchdown. On 3rd and 2, Hunter caught an intermediate out route along the right sideline, made two defenders miss and raced in for the score.
The loss drops the Raiders to 4-7.
Fantasy studs and duds
McGloin didn't do much in the way of fantasy numbers, throwing for 260 yards, one touchdown and one pick. Rod Streater led the team with 93 yards receiving and Rashad Jennings rushed for 73 yards on 16 carries.
Fitzpatrick rewarded owners with 320 yards and two scores, though Chris Johnson disappointed with just 73 yards rushing and no touchdowns. Both Hunter and Wright each had six catches for over one hundred yards and a touchdown.
Raiders receiver Mychal Rivera suffered a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit in first quarter, but returned to the game after passing concussion tests in the locker room.
