Packers vs. Lions 2013 picks and predictions: Detroit favored by experts

The Detroit Lions are favored to best the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

The Green Bay Packers are set to take on the Detroit Lions in an important NFC North game Thursday. The Lions (6-5) are in first place in the division, and have a golden opportunity to best their toughest rival while they're at less than full strength. Green Bay (5-5-1) is without quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who sustained a collarbone injury earlier in the season.

While the Packers won the first meeting between these two teams (at Lambeau), Detroit was the team that was hobbled in that game. Green Bay had Rodgers, while Detroit was without wide receivers Nate Burleson and Calvin Johnson, the latter being the best receiver in the NFL.

The betting lines favor the Lions and it sounds like most experts around the Internet think the Lions can take advantage of this opportunity to split the series and get further ahead in the division. SB Nation's panel of six experts -- Ryan Van Bibber, Jason Chilton, David Fucillo, Matt Ufford, Stephen White and Joel Thorman -- all picked the Lions to win this one.

There are similar trends over at CBS Sports, where guys like Pete Prisco and Jason La Canfora are picking the Lions to win. Two of their eight experts believe the Packers will manage the win, though (Will Brinson, Ryan Wilson). It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
